Is all Amy's food organic?

Our goal is to use as many organic ingredients as we can. And currently, most of our vegetables, grains and beans are organic. There are a few ingredients we use that aren’t organic, either because they are not readily available in the quantities we need or because the cost is much too high. But we continue to work hard to have those last few conventionally-grown items sourced organically for us.

The federal labeling regulations dictate when we (and other food companies) can label products “Organic” or “Made with Organic”. Specifically, the USDA regulations provide that products labeled “Organic” must contain at least 95% organic ingredients, and products labeled “Made with Organic” must contain at least 70% organic ingredients. Amy’s must use the language specified in the USDA regulations and may not modify the language or the related percentages. Also, products labeled “Organic” (including products labeled “Made with Organic”) may only use non-GMO ingredients (ingredients that have not been derived through genetic modification/genetic engineering). In other words, regardless whether the ingredient is organic or conventionally-grown, it still must be non-GMO if it is in a product labeled “Organic” or “Made with Organic." Please know that we verify that our ingredients are non-GMO as that is a core value of our company, and we have worked hard in support of efforts to require GMO labeling of food.
