A Helping of Amy’s for Autistic Kids and Many others on Special Diets
Gluten-Free / Casein Free Diet May Aid Autistic Kids
Santa Rosa, California - Amy's Kitchen, the nation's top-selling brand of natural and organic convenience foods, is expanding its gluten-free line of products at the same time that a growing chorus of parents are finding a dairy (casein) - and gluten-free diet for their autistic children helpful.
Some doctors, including Dr. Jerry Kartiznel, who was recently featured on ABC News, say that children have shown mild to dramatic improvements in speech and/or behavior after wheat and gluten substances were removed from their diet. Many Amy’s products are both gluten- and dairy-free – and appealing and delicious to kids – putting favorites like mac and cheese and pizza back on the menu.
Amy’s newest gluten-free/dairy free products are Cream of Rice Hot Cereal (SRP $2.29) and Non-Dairy Cheeze Rice Crust Pizzain a single-serve size (SRP $3.99). There’s even a dairy- and gluten-free Kids Meals Baked Ziti (8.0 ounces, suggested retail price: $4.29).
Other Amy’s products that are dairy- and gluten-free include the following:
Rice Crust Spinach Pizza
Light tender rice crust topped with organic spinach and dairy-free, soy-based mozzarella and ricotta cheezes, and of course Amy's authentic Italian pizza sauce made with organic sun-ripened tomatoes and our special blend of herbs.
Baked Ziti Bowl
This bowl is made from rice flour rather than the usual wheat flour, along with organic peas and completely dairy-free, soy-based mozzarella and ricotta cheezes, in Amy's superb pasta sauce made from vine organic tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and classic Italian herbs and spices.
A good veggie burger is hard to find. And finding a great tasting veggie burger that is gluten free and contains no dairy is even harder. This veggie burger is made with organic brown rice, pinto beans, plenty of mushrooms, and a touch of BBQ sauce to give it that "just off the grill" flavor.
Generous portions of tofu scrambled with organic vegetables with hash browned potatoes on the side make up this delicious meal.

Indian Vegetable Korma
Tender organic vegetables in a curry sauce with a rich, mild flavor that comes from coconut milk and organic raisins, cashews and slivered almonds, combined with organic tomatoes and authentic hand-roasted Indian spices. On the side are fragrant golden basmati rice and a dal consisting of a mixture of six delicately spiced lentils and beans.
Amy’s currently makes over 50 casein- and gluten-free products, from classics like Shepherd’s Pie to adventuresome fare like Indian Mattar Tofu. Visit http://amys.com/special_diets/celiac.php for more info and a complete product listing.

Letters from Consumers
My son was recently diagnosed as "on the autism spectrum". We are trying the gluten-free, casein-free diet. Your products are a godsend! Especially the new spinach pizza. THANK YOU and keep those GFCF meals and pizza coming!!
Thanks so much for making a gluten AND dairy free pizza! I have been waiting a long time for this day! My son has autism and has been gluten and dairy free for several years now. I have patiently made him his own pizzas, which he appreciated. However, your pizza has won the prize! It tastes delicious and even more importantly (to him), it looks like a real pizza! That is very special to a 6 year old.
Thank you sooooo much for making such a great product (your rice crust gluten free, vegan spinach pizza). My son is autistic and like many parents we have him on a gluten, casein free diet. It is very hard to find products that are reasonably priced that he actually enjoys. He is only 5 years old and to be able to eat pizza was a big deal for him. The Autsim community is a close knit one and I was tipped off about the pizza by another mom. I will be telling all my mommy friends about it. Thanks again. BRAVO!!!!
