Kids helping kids, students band together to raise funds for children of the tsunami

Students across America continue to let children of South Asia know they care about them after the tsunami hit their region on December 26th. Scores of students have banded together in small towns and big cities to help children half a world away by holding a variety of fundraisers from fashion shows to penny collections to send to Save the Children's Asia Earthquake / Tsunami Relief Fund.

A Valentines Day card sent to Save the Children in honor of the Asian Earthquake/Tsunami disaster.

In the weeks that followed the tsunami that devastated parts of Asia , Save the Children received over $200,000 from student-run fundraisers held in almost 1,000 schools nationwide; and more fundraisers are planned in the near future.

“We are inspired by the outpouring of support by the many children reaching out to help the children affected by the tsunami.” said Charles MacCormack, president and CEO of Save the Children. “These generous donations will go a long way in providing the children affected by this disaster with the tools they need to rebuild their lives and community.”
